Ravenstar Croft.
Our aim here is to produce much of the food for ourselves, our guests and our animals from the land we have.
The croft extends to about 4 ½ acres and is mostly arable land, suitable for growing a variety of food crops. We use organic methods of cultivation on our land as we want to know what our food contains. Therefore we use no artificial pesticides or fertilizers on our crops.
We have a Polytunnel for protecting tender plants from the weather and to extend our growing season, and we endeavour to grow such plants as will stand the Hebridean weather in our fruit and vegetable garden.
During your stay you may wish to join in with some of the daily routine of the croft. You will be welcome to help in the garden or assist with the animals both of which can be very relaxing experiences. You can do as much or as little as you wish!
We currently have Sheep, Goats, Hens, Ducks, Pigs and Cattle. Much of the work on the croft is done by hand, but the heavy jobs are tackled with the help of our vintage Ferguson TEF20 tractor.
